Eastcote Studios Blog Volume 3

Hello again everyone, this is a very special blog entry for us at Eastcote Studios.  We are very proud to announce that Eastcote Studios was awarded the Studio of the Year Award at the 2012 Music Producers Guild Awards!

It is such and honour to receive this award, and we have to say a huge thank you to all the MPG members that voted for us.  A special thanks as well to Mumford and Sons, who came down to surprise us and hand Philip the trophy.

On Grammy night, just before the awards started, US television network CBS broadcast their short documentary about Adele on the show 60 Minutes.  Eastcote Studios featured as one of the interview locations for this show, as Rolling in the Deep was recorded in our Studio 1.  You can watch the interview below.  Look out for Eastcote Studio 1 appearing at 5.20!

Eastcote Studios Blog Volume 2

Hello everyone and welcome to the first Eastcote blog update of 2012, we hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!

It's been as busy as ever here at the studio since our last post, we've seen plenty of old faces return as well as some new clients too.

Firstly, a quick note on our studio equipment. Studio owner Philip Bagenal has finally managed to source another pair of Adam S2.5A's (not an easy task!), which has enabled him to complete his vision of having identical monitoring in all three of our studios. Studios 1, 2 and 3 now have NS10's powered by Bryston amps, and Adam S2.5A's.

After a brief break, our old friends Mumford and Sons (www.mumfordandsons.com) returned with producer Marcus Dravs and engineer Robin Bainton for some more work on their forthcoming second album.  We are all very much looking forward to hearing the end results of these sessions!

Next we had multi-instrumentalist Gary Husband (http://www.garyhusband.com) putting the finishing touches on the mixes for his stunning new album, Dirty and Beautiful Volume II, which should be released by the time you read this.

Next up we had PJ Harvey producer Head return to Eastcote, this time bringing folk-blues duo The Smoke Fairies (www.smokefairies.com) with him. They had a number of sessions in Studio's 1 and 2 to record and mix their new album.

Around this time, the studio also played host to electro-dubstep producer Hygrade ( http://www.myspace.com/hygrade ) and his team of top-liners and lyricists. These guys had a 5 day writing session in Studio 2 and we wish them all the best of luck with the results.

Just before we finished for the holidays, Virgin records latest new signing To Kill A King (http://tokillaking.co.uk/) came to Studio 1 with engineer Neil Comber  for an intensive 1-day-1-song recording session for their debut album. These guys also host a regular night just down the road from the studio at Notting Hill Arts Club and we thoroughly recommend that you check them out.

Finally in the new year, we witnessed the triumphant return of Adele to Eastcote Studios! (http://www.adele.tv/) Adele recorded Rolling in the Deep back in 2010 in Eastcote Studio 1, which went on to be the most downloaded track of 2011.  This time she returned with the crew of CBS show 60 Minutes to record an interview and and an informal performance. You can see this interview and the studio in all it's high definition glory just before the Grammys on CBS!

Eastcote Studios Blog Volume 1

Welcome to the first edition of the Eastcote Studios blog.  This blog has been created as part of the revamp of the studio website, and will enable us to keep everyone up to date with everything going on down at the studio.

It's been a very busy few months for us here at Eastcote, with a constant stream of projects of all shapes and sizes coming through the door.  As this is the first blog, we'll look at the highlights from the past few months.

Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts used our Studio 1 to record piano and vocals for her debut solo album.  She was joined on these sessions by French-Electro Producer Dimitri and a rather large film crew, a snippet of what they made can be seen below:

Singer Patricia Hammond (http://patriciahammond.com) used Studio 1 to track and mix her album of vintage pop songs "Our Lovely Day", all tracked live using enough retro gear to give the songs an authentic sound.

Saxophonist Matt Wates visited our Studio 1 with his sextet (http://www.mattwates.com/matt_wates_sextet.html) to record his charity album "Talia's Song", with all the proceeds going to the  UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust.

More recently DJ/Super-Producer Mark Ronson booked a lengthy stay with us and brought with him The Gossip to record their forth-coming album, as well as singer/song-writer (and former Pipette) Rose Dougall, to record tracks for her latest record.

Following with enormous success of their first album, folk-rock legends Mumford and Sons chose to return to Eastcote Studios to record album number two, working again with prolific producer Marcus Dravs.   Below is singer Marcus Mumford with our RCA ribbon microphone.

Since Mumford's departure we have been working with drummer extraordinaire Gary Husband to finish his latest album: "Dirty and Beautiful Volume 2", and rapper/singer/songwriter/actor Plan B on some of his latest ventures.

Whilst all this has been going on, Producer Eliot James has been upstairs in Studio 3,  working with an incredible array of musicians, ranging from Two Door Cinema Club to X-Factor winner Matt Cardle.

Until next time,

Eastcote Studios.
